VNG Teacher Spotlight: Ashley Mendiondo

Ashley Mendiondo is receiving the award for Science Teacher of the Month for April. Ashley is a second-year 6th-Grade Science teacher at Vernon Middle School in Harlingen CISD. She was nominated for Teacher of the Month because of her collaborative work with her science team and her administration in delivering innovative, student-centered teaching with the VNG as part of their International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. Ashley says that the VNG plays a "vital role" in their curriculum, adding:

I use it during bell ringers, reviews, and class discussions. This is because it helps me create opportunities for my students to learn and use academic language while making meaningful connections, engage in higher-level thinking, and confidently express their ideas. It has been instrumental in creating engagement and giving voice to my students. The Visual Non-Glossary is and will continue to be part of my daily use.
